About Our Instructors and Masters
Dr. Collins, Soke
Dr. Collins, Soke 10th Degree Black Belt; Certified Crystal Healing and Reiki Master and instructor; has been training for 44 years. His extensive experience and passion for martial arts shine through his teaching and his enthusiasm for his students is unmatched.
Kyoshi Irvine, menkyo
Kyoshi Irvine is the Menkyo Kaeden This means he is the second in command of the Dojo. Kyoshi brings to the Dojo 44 years of martial science perfection, etiquette, and commitment. Kyoshi Irvine is the direct student of Dr. Collins, Soke 10th degree.
Shihan VanNiekirk
With more than 30 years of Martial Arts Training. Shihan and Soke studied under Hanshi Zavitz. Shihan is proficient in a Multitude of Geri techniques and love sharing his experience and knowledge with all levels of students.
SHIHAN-DAI IRVINE
Shihan Dai Irvine is a Junior Master and the head instructor. At 4th degree Black Belt, Shihan Dai brings nearly 20 years of martial science study and tournament experience. He has a passion and love for the system and has dedicated his martial science career to studying. Shihan Dai Irvine is the direct student of Dr. Collins, Soke 10th degree.
Shihan dai Sherri
Shihan Dai Stainforth has been training and teaching under Soke for 14 years. She has her own Dojo in Ingersoll where she teaches and trains her students in Yaki-Ire Ryu. Shihan Dai has extensive experience in tournaments and enjoyes sharing her love of competition with all her students.
SENSEI RYAN BROOKS
Sensei Brooks has 12 years of training experience. He has trained under Soke Collins for his entire career and continues to add to his knowledge and skill set by teaching and training every chance he gets. Sensei Brooks is a Nidan, 2nd degree Black Belt

Sensei Slazar has been training with Soke for 11 years and is newly minted as a Shodan, 1st Degree Black Belt. His passion for training is demonstrated when he is on the floor training new and experienced students.

SenseI Hawco is one of our recent recipients of a Shodan. She has been training under Soke Collins for 4 years
Sensei taylor
Sensei Taylor has been with Midnightsun Bugeikahn since early 2000's. He is enthusiastic about weapons (Kobuddo), and the Dojo Etiquette. Sensei enjoyed his role as a Deshi and a teacher and will answer any questions. Should he not know an answer he knows where to go to get the answer. We look forward to seeing Sensei grow as a Martial Artist and a human.
Sensei Heather
Sensei Heather has been a student in the Black Dragon program for 2 years. She has enjoyed her role in the Dojo and is proactive in our social media presence and teaches our Mighty Pandas program. Training in both locations Deshi is on the right tract to becoming an expert in all aspects of our system.

Our traditional weapons system is a look at a limited number. of traditional weapons that were designed to protect the peasants from marauding troops of samurai who were hell-bent on suppressing the commoners under their thumb. Our look at traditional Okinawan farm implements, turned into weapons is comprehensive and in-depth. it is a challenging compliment to our Iaju School of Japanese Fencing.
